Acquired Disease: Pretty much different from the congenital disease, acquired condition comprises of Dental Caries popularly known as cavity or tooth decay and Dental Abscess. These two are the most common diseases. Cavities are caused by the unwanted guest that rests peacefully in our mouth - Bacteria. They eat foods with sugar or starch, which produce acids that erode tooth structure and cause enamel damage. Dental Abscess is caused by the pus which gets accumulated in teeth and gums because of the bacterial infection. Dental abscess can be caused by eating foods high in sugar and starch. However, if you maintain good oral hygiene, this can be avoided.

There is not much that can done to prevent some diseases, other than undergoing surgery. For acquired diseases, we must practice good dental hygiene.
